Cart product quantity using input text

I'm trying to make the product quantities on cart to be input texts instead of having the + and - signs. I didn't quite understand the CustomHtmlForm, at least not enough to make something like that. Does anybody have any tips on how to do this?

the product detail form uses input fields for the product quantity. Have you tried to use that as a starting point?
