Tutorial of using silvercart with calendar module to create a paid conference event
13 November 2011 at 9:59pmI wonder if the future release of silvercart will include the calender module and a tutorial on how to use the calender module to do a paid conference where the payment options are credit card, direct bank transfer. This will help to diversify the use of SilverCart to event oragnization.
Thanks
Jim
Re: Tutorial of using silvercart with calendar module to create a paid conference event
13 November 2011 at 10:37pmHi Jim,
this sounds like a very special requirement.
We have no plans of including a calendar module yet (by the way, which one do you mean? If I am right there are several calender / event modules available).
However, things may change very swiftly as soon as a client or a prospective customer has this requirement and hires us to deliver this feature in a project. If a feature is not sponsored by a client, we have to focus our limited resources on general features that we assume to provide the most bang for the community. I like the idea to provide special features for event management, but I have no idea of the market volume and the chances a module for this niche would have.
As a workaround, you could create the event as a product that can be bought so many times as tickets are available. Linking these event products to a date entry in a calendar module should be feasible.
Since you ask this very specific question, may I ask you what features you would need in detail, what your requirements are?
Cheers
Ramon
Re: Tutorial of using silvercart with calendar module to create a paid conference event
13 November 2011 at 10:57pmHi Jim,
I get the point.
Combining SilverCart with the event calendar can be as easy as placing a link from the event to a matching "event product" in SilverCart that actually can be bought. Given the 2 modules are installed and working properly, this should be done in a few minutes. This would be the easy way, but not very elegant though.
A more elegant solution would be customize the whole chekcout process to match the new scenario:
Are the tickets being shipped physically? Are there specific informations that the buyer needs to submit?
Depending on the needs of this scenario the registration / checkout process of SilverCart have to be customized to fit perfectly.
This should not be too complex, since we have created SilverCart with easy customization in mind, but the devil is in the details...
Cheers
